“Jesus wept.” – John 11:35
Grief is something we shouldn’t run from—but so often, we do. No one likes to feel pain, yet acknowledging it is how healing begins.
In this short verse, we see that even Jesus had moments of deep sorrow. When He saw Mary and Martha grieving for their brother Lazarus, He was moved to tears. Even though Jesus knew He could raise Lazarus, He still allowed Himself to feel their pain and weep with them.
What a reminder that it’s okay to feel. Grief doesn’t mean a lack of faith—it means we loved deeply.
Recently, I had to face my own moment of grief. I went for a walk, listened to worship music, and journaled what was on my heart. Tears came, but so did peace. I realized that when I stop running from pain and bring it to God, He meets me there.
If you’re hurting, don’t hide it. Bring your grief to Jesus. Let Him sit with you in it. Even He took time to weep, to rest, and to release. And when you do the same, you’ll find His comfort waiting for you.
